Drs. A. Elema
Mrs. Drs. Agnes Elema is a pediatric physiatrist at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of the UMCG. After her training in the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, she followed a ‘fellowship Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine’ in Groningen. Her areas of interest are spasticity treatment (including botulinum toxin A injections) and gait analysis. She is involved in the multi-specialist consultations: movement disorders / dystonia, cerebral palsy, congenital abnormalities lower extremities, pediatric rehabilitation/orthopedics, prosthetics, skeletal dysplasia. Children with movement disorders she sees at the clinic together with a specialized pediatric physiotherapist and hand / occupational therapist. The aim of pediatric rehabilitation is optimal participation of children in society and prevent complications of the disease through medication, therapy and / or tools.
