PhD Defence Dr. Roald Lambrechts

On November 13, Roald Lambrechts defended his thesis entitled "Childhood-onset movement disorders: mechanistic and therapeutic insights in Drosophila melanogaster". In his thesis, fruit flies are used as a model to improve our understanding of two movement disorders with childhood onset, ultimately leading to specific treatment. The two diseases studied are panthothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN) and North Sea Disease (NS-PME).
